Dr. Syed A Husain

Dr. Husain has been with our practice for over 18 years. He attended Dow Medical College (Pakistan) from 1984 through 1991. He completed a Medical Internship in Pakistan from 1991-1992. In 1992, he became a Medical Officer at the Ali Clinic until 1994. He began his US residency in Internal Medicine in 1994 at St Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ, which he completed in 1997. Dr. Husain did his Infectious Disease Fellowship at SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY from 1997-1999. He then joined Infectious Disease Consultants in the fall of 1999. He is Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease.
Dr Husain is on staff at St Francis Medical Center; Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton; Princeton Healthcare System at Plainsboro; and Capital Health System. He is also a part-time consulting physician with the NJ State Prison System. He is also certified in wound care and Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at both St Francis and RWJ at Hamilton's wound care centers.

Dr. Anamika Patel

Dr. Patel has been with our practice for over 13 years. She attended B.J. Medical College (India) starting in 1992 and she graduated in 1996. She completed her Medical Internship in India from 1997-1998. She began her US Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Guthrie/Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA in 1999 and completed in 2002. Dr. Patel did her Infectious Disease Fellowship at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA from 2002-2004. She joined Infectious Disease Consultants in the summer of 2004. She is Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. Dr. Patel has special interest in treating HIV and Hepatitis C.

Dr. Suja Mathai

Dr. Mathai has been with our practice for over 9 years. She attended Sri Siddartha Medical College (India) from 1994 to 1999. She completed her Medical Internship in India in 2000. She began her US training with an OB/GYN and Pediatrics Internship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York which she completed in 2001. Dr. Mathai did her Residency in Internal Medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ from 2003 to 2006. Her Fellowship in Infectious Disease was also done at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center from 2006 to 2008. She joined Infectious Disease Consultants in the summer of 2008. She is Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease.

Dr. Richard Porwancher

Dr. Porwancher has been with our practice for over 30 years. He attended Northwestern University where he completed a six-year honors program and graduated in 1977. He began his Medical Internship in 1977 at The Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals, which he completed in 1978. He then began his medical Residency in 1978 at the same institution, which he completed in 1980. Dr. Porwancher's Infectious Disease Fellowship was completed at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 1982. He joined the staff of St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ in 1982 and started his Infectious Disease practice at that time. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ. He has authorized 14 papers in peer-reviewed medical journals and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians, Infectious Disease Society of America, and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. He performs active research in the field of Lyme disease and has served as a consultant to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health regarding Lyme disease diagnosis.

Dr. Tahir Farooq

Dr. Farooq has been with our practice for over 10 years. He attended Rawalpindi Medical College (Pakistan) from 1995-1996, where he was awarded President Gold Medal. After completing an Internal Medicine Internship and Fellowship from 1997-2000, he began his US residency at St Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ which he completed in 2005. Prior to his residency, Dr Farooq held a research position at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick from 2001-2002. Dr. Farooq did his Infectious Disease Fellowship at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in North Carolina from 2005-2007. He then joined Infectious Disease Consultants in the summer of 2007. He is Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease.
Dr Farooq is on staff at St Francis Medical Center; Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton; Princeton Healthcare System at Plainsboro; and Capital Health System. He is also certified in wound care and Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at both St Francis and RWJ at Hamilton's wound care centers.
